I'm not quite sure what to say, or even where to start really! This whole blog has really come out of the blue but I'm super excited that you all want to know more about the Birdie Barn brand and insights into behind the scenes.
My name is Sarah and I'm the owner and founder of Birdie Barn. I'm 26 and currently in the latter stages of refurbishing my barn conversion, set in the North West English countryside with a little help from my border collie pup, Legend!
In 2016 I resigned from my job in finance to take care of my terminally ill father. There was no question making this decision, I loved my job in a high street bank but my Dad was my best friend, it had always been just him and I inseparable from a very young age so there was no way I wasn't spending his last days with him. He unfortunately passed away a short 5 months later and I began to question "what on earth do I do with my life now?!". Everything I've ever done has always been with my Dad and if it wasn't, I was always on the phone to him discussing it... but now I was left with a whole load of responsibility, pressure and uncertainty to cope with; without him. The thought of that prospect was incredibly daunting and even when I think about it now, it still scares the crap out of me!
Fast forward to 2017, one day I was busy working away on The Barn, the same music blaring from my Dads stereo that first built The Barn 20 years ago (I'm an old school hard rock girl), and noticed how much I enjoyed home interior but always felt there was something missing, it was that personalised touch!
Coming from a hands on and creative family I was relishing in the idea of creating something 'bespoke' (hate that word!) to be a feature in The Barn. I came up with the idea of creating a family tree plaque... relevant, eye appealing and personal, sounds good right? Well everyone thought so too and soon I was making them for family and friends in a rush for fathers Day 2017, Birdie Barn was born!
In a short year and a half Birdie Barn has grown and grown and I have my amazing customers and followers to thank for that. We've expanded our products, had hired help and we're now on our way to becoming a solely eco friendly brand. I'm an all or nothing girl and knew from the very start how much I just loved being my own boss and releasing my creative energy every single day, that's how I knew I was going to make Birdie Barn a success, no matter what.
I'll forever be grateful for this crazy journey and all those that have joined me along the way. We're still evolving and I cannot wait to share more insights with you all along the way...
